OPERATION AVIAN – 2026

About
Operation Avian
Operation Avian, a dedicated initiative addressing the urgent need for expert avian care, particularly in response to the widespread injuries birds suffer during events like the Uttarayan Festival’s kite flying.
Every year, thousands of birds, including endangered species, are severely wounded by sharp kite strings, leaving them incapacitated, vulnerable, and in need of immediate medical attention.

Operation Avian aims to bridge this critical gap by empowering veterinarians and rehabilitators with specialized training in avian rescue, rehabilitation, and species-specific medical interventions. Through comprehensive workshops and expert-led sessions, participants enhance their skills in avian surgery, emergency care, and post-operative recovery.
The program offers a unique opportunity for less experienced vets to work alongside seasoned professionals, gaining hands-on experience in treating complex injuries. Our mission is to ensure that every bird receives the highest standard of care, safeguarding their survival and promoting long-term welfare in the face of environmental and human-induced threats.
